Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply when you use this website or hire M&K Cambridge Concrete Company for concrete work. By using the site, asking for an estimate or booking a job with us, you agree to them, so please read them before you go ahead.

If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the site or book work through it. If something here is unclear, call us at (617) 613-6953 or reach us through our contact page and we'll explain it before you commit to anything.

What we do

M&K Cambridge Concrete Company is a concrete contractor in Cambridge, MA. We pour and repair driveways, patios, walkways, steps, garage floors, footings and foundations, and we do related work in Cambridge and the cities around it. Our home page lists every service we offer, and our about page tells you more about who we are.

What the site says about our services is general information. It isn't a promise about your job. The work we'll do at your house, and how we'll do it, is set by the written estimate or contract we give you after we've seen the site.

Estimates and pricing

Our on-site estimates are free and carry no obligation. Each estimate is based on what we can see on the day, such as the size of the area, how much old concrete has to come out, how far down we have to dig for a solid base, how the water drains and the finish you choose.

Some conditions only show up once the old slab is out or the ground is open, like soft or wet soil under the surface, buried debris, roots or ledge. If we find something that changes the work or the price, we'll stop and talk it through with you, and we won't do extra work you haven't agreed to.

Unless your estimate says otherwise, an estimate stays good for 30 days, because material and labor costs can change. Prices for anything not listed in the written estimate aren't included.

Scheduling, weather and cancellations

We'll give you a start date when you book. Concrete is weather work, so rain, freezing temperatures or extreme heat can push a pour back, because pouring in the wrong conditions makes a weaker slab. If weather or a material delivery forces a change, we'll tell you as soon as we know and set the next workable date with you.

After the pour, the concrete needs time to cure, meaning it has to harden before it can take weight. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk on and drive on. Damage caused by using the surface before then, or by people, pets, vehicles or weather we couldn't control, isn't covered.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know as early as you can. If we've already ordered materials, set forms or done prep work, we may charge for that work and those materials, as your contract describes.

Payment

Your written contract sets the deposit, if there is one, the payment schedule and the payment methods we accept. Payment of the balance is due when the work is finished unless your contract says otherwise.

If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's settled and charge any late fees the contract allows. You're responsible for reasonable costs of collecting an unpaid balance, as far as Massachusetts law allows.

Warranties and what concrete can and can't do

M&K Cambridge Concrete Company is fully licensed and insured. Any warranty on your job is only what's written in your contract, and no other warranty applies unless the law requires it. That includes any warranty that the work is fit for a purpose or suitable for sale.

Concrete can develop small hairline cracks as it dries and as the ground moves through New England winters. We cut control joints, which are planned grooves that give the slab a place to crack in a straight line, but no contractor can promise a slab will never crack. Small color differences, surface wear from road salt or deicers, and changes caused by settling of soil we didn't prepare are normal and aren't defects.

This website is provided as is. We try to keep it accurate, but we don't promise that everything on it is complete, current or free of errors.

Limits on our liability

As far as the law allows, M&K Cambridge Concrete Company isn't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, such as lost use of a driveway, lost income or damage caused by conditions we couldn't reasonably have known about. Our total liability for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.

We aren't responsible for buried utilities, irrigation lines or other hidden items that weren't marked or disclosed to us before work began. Please tell us about anything underground you know of before we dig.

Settling a disagreement

If you're unhappy with any part of our work, call us first at (617) 613-6953. Most problems get fixed fastest when we come back out, look at it together and agree on what to do.

If we can't settle it that way, we both agree to try mediation before going to court. If mediation doesn't resolve it, the dispute will be heard in the state courts serving Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

Which law applies

These terms, and any work we do for you, are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. If a court finds any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted here is the one that applies. Changes don't affect a contract you've already signed with us.

Questions about these terms are welcome. Call (617) 613-6953 or send us a note through our contact page, and we'll get back to you within one business day.
